Welcome to the seventh Monday Mood Booster post! Mondays are difficult for many reasons and sometimes we need a little pick-me-up. This series will run the first Monday of each month and highlight something that we love that helps us beat the Monday blues.
This month, it’s music.
I absolutely love music. Who doesn’t? I listen to it every day. At home, in my car, at work. I can’t live without it.
There are 4 main reasons why I love music:
1. It’s universal.
You don’t need to understand the language or all the words in the lyrics to feel the emotion it evokes. I can listen to songs in other languages and understand the emotion of the song. Or I can listen to an instrumental piece and be moved by it. A song can have different interpretations for different people or it can have the same interpretation for many people.
2. It’s constantly evolving.
Music in this decade is different from music in the last decade. It seems that there’s a distinct sound for every era. New genres have been created. Genres can mix too such as country pop. Since music is constantly changing and evolving with the times, it will continue to be different. You may enjoy listening to a few genres or you may listen to many different genres. I love music from the late 1999/early 2000’s because it’s music from my childhood.
3. It’s relatable.
Have you ever listened to a song that describes a situation from your life? I have found so many songs that perfectly describes an experience I’ve had. I think we all have our to-go songs for when we want to listen to an uplifting song, melancholy song, dance track etc. Basically, you can find music to fit any mood.
4. It’s a form of self-care.
Music can relax you. I have found that when I’m stressed or anxious or bored, I’ll listen to my favourite songs or a favourite album and it’s amazing how quickly my mood can change. I enjoy listening to music in both a group setting and individually. It can be a great bonding experience to listen to your favourite artists with people who love the same type of music.
